I refer to it as the book your company and manager don’t want you to read:

The odds say it’s a lot more likely you will follow a typical career path like me, than that of an iconic CEO. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t aspire to be iconic, it’s just that many things have to happen to elevate to that level, not only at large companies, but at medium and small ones too.

Follow the path of someone that did well (me), but probably could have done better if I had taken more calculated risks, knew what career hindering warning signs to look for and had the luxury of hindsight. Learn from my mistakes and assure you don’t make the same ones.
The book also touches on co-workers, mentors, bosses and leaders (of the good and bad variety). Hopefully you will enjoy the book, find it entertaining, a little humorous and beneficial in helping you navigate your career…and come on, look at these endorsements!
“Don is a good son; you should read his book…” Don’s mom
“Don is a good husband; you should read his book…” Don’s wife
“Don gives me treats; I don’t care if you read his book…” Don’s cat
By the way, I learned some time ago that life and work experiences are pretty similar around the world – the language spoken may not always be the same, but for the most part, people are people, so I think the book should “translate” well, regardless of geographic location.
Finally, I don’t want to go through life with regrets (at least not more than I already have) and writing a book is something I always thought about doing. Good or bad, I gave it a shot and can now say I did it… hopefully well. Thanks for taking the time to read my work and for getting to know me, and maybe yourself, a little better. Hopefully it’s an easy, interesting and entertaining read.

Why I Wrote The Book:
I received many positive notes and messages after I wrote an article called “Sorry You Are Too Experienced”. Many of the people that sent those messages asked if I considered writing a book to share some of my other experiences – I hadn’t. Well, fast forward a year and now I have a book! “The book your company and manager don’t want you to read.“ If you liked that article, you will probably like the book.
